In the monsoon season of 2017, Nepal experienced a devastating flood that severely affected the Eastern Tarai region. This natural disaster resulted in significant loss of human lives and extensive damage to property.
In response to the crisis, Tharus and Friends Association collaborated with Chicagoland Tharu Society, NorCA Tharuhat (CA), and Tharu Around the World to raise funds for the flood victims. Through their collective efforts, a total of $2,621 was raised to support those impacted by the flood.
Of the total amount raised, $2,121 was distributed directly to families who lost members during the disaster, providing them with essential financial assistance in their time of need. Additionally, $500 was given to Bibekshil Tharu Yuwa Samuh in Sunsari to enable immediate relief efforts for affected families in the region.
