Support Initiatives by Backward Society Education (BASE) in Western Nepal under Tharus and Friends Association’s Financial Support

Overview

Backward Society Education (BASE) is a dedicated organization working in Western Nepal to uplift vulnerable communities. In collaboration with the local government, BASE has launched targeted initiatives in the Dang District, focusing on providing essential support to children and their families. These efforts are designed to ensure that aid is delivered efficiently and that local residents are actively engaged throughout the process.

Distribution of Essential Supplies

As part of its comprehensive support program, BASE distributed vital supplies to 36 children and their families. The food packages included staple items such as rice, dal, cooking oil, salt, and sugar, which helped address immediate nutritional requirements. In addition to food, BASE provided hygiene items like soaps, hand sanitizers, and face masks to encourage healthy practices and reduce the risk of illness. To further support the children’s academic growth, educational materials—including books, notebooks, and geometry boxes—were also distributed, fostering an environment conducive to learning.

Health Services

To address pressing health concerns, BASE organized mobile health teams to conduct checkups for both children and their families. These health services were intended not only to treat existing health issues but also to offer practical advice on maintaining personal well-being, especially considering the challenging environments where the beneficiaries live and work.

Beneficiaries

The primary recipients of these initiatives were children employed in brick industries located in the Lamahi and Tulsipur areas. By focusing on this vulnerable group, BASE aimed to mitigate some of the hardships faced by these children and their families, while simultaneously improving their access to health care and educational opportunities.
